Weymouth 'Calendar Girls' Bare All For Cancer Charity
9:11am 15th November 2014
Weymouth has its very own version of the Calendar girls.
A group of friends led by Sally Rodgers have bared all in the fight against breast cancer.
Sally was inspired to take on the project after losing her cousin Wendy to the disease back in April.
Wendy took a selfie for Facebook when she had lost her hair was very frail as part of a national campaign to raise money for Macmillan.
Sally said she was so moved by Wendy's picture she told her girlfriends that she would go topless to fight this terrible disease.
So, Sally and her 11 friends have been posing at locations including Greenhill beach and on a fishing boat in Weymouth Harbour.
Sally says the finished calendar also provides vital health advice;
"On each page, one day of each month, there's a little rose symbol to remind ladies to check themselves for any lumps and bumps. And if they do spot anything that's not normal they should get help from their GP straight away."
They have already raised thousands of pounds but Sally's dream target is to get to £10,000.
Calendars cost £10 each and are available from:
The Party Shop
Upstairs Downstairs Café
Embrace Hair and Beauty
The Turks Head.
