A Weymouth restaurant fought off tough competition to claim its place at the top of the Dorset food chain after winning 'Restaurant of the year'.
The Dining Room walked away with the prestigious prize at the Dorset Magazine Food, Drink and Farming Awards 2014.
Dorset Magazine has harnessed its expertise from its sister magazines across the UK to hold its inaugural Dorset Magazine Food, Drink & Farming Awards. Dorset is well known for its excellent produce and the passionate people working within the industry. The awards are designed to showcase the heroes in restaurants, pubs, hotels, farms, shops and factories.
The restaurant was up against the likes of Michelin starred Sienna in Dorchester and featured on TV in September in a programme called The Taste of Britain with Brian Turner and Janet Street Porter.
Taher Jibet, Chef Proprietor of The Dining Room commented: “This year has just been fantastic for us. We have had the busiest summer yet, I was selected for the show A Taste of Britain and now our amazing diners have voted for us as ‘Restaurant of the Year’! I couldn’t be happier! My team are just brilliant and none of this would happen without them. We had some really stiff competition last night up against the only Michelin starred restaurant in the county and a wonderful vegetarian restaurant in Lyme Regis, so this is pretty special!”
