Dorchester Beat Weymouth In Special Charity Match

Charity Footy

(Updated 12:05pm 2nd December 2014)

Elves collecting money and Santa giving team pep talks were all part and parcel of a very special game at The Avenue Stadium yesterday.

Dorchester and Weymouth's charity match gave the managers and former players the chance to show off their skills once again to raise £8,000 and counting for Meningitis Now and the Kingfisher Ward at DCH.

The bitter adversaries put their differences aside for a Dorchester boy who was diagnosed with the disease as a baby.

George Pattison has been left in a wheelchair and his mum, Naomi, has worked tirelessly to organise the fundraiser on Sunday (30th November) that also included an auction and food stalls as well as the football itself.

Naomi said: "The money is going to be split 50/50 between the Kingfisher ward at DCH and Meningitis Now.

"The Kingfisher ward is like George's second home, and they give so much support to the family. Meningitis now is also really close to my heart, they've provided us with a lot of vital equipment and they're all about rebuilding lives and futures."

The Magpies ended up edging past the Terras 4-2.
