More than 30 fire fighters were needed to extinguish a blaze at farm near Beaminster.
Crews were called at 11:10am over reports of a chimney fire but when they arrived they found the roof of the property was on fire.
They quickly called for more help and support was sent from Bridport, Charmouth and Weymouth along with Crewkerne and Yeovil crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service.
Fire fighters used breathing apparatus, 2 main lines and 2 hose reel jets to put the fire out.
Wessex FM spoke to Station Manager for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service Jason Moncrieff at the scene.
He said: “We faced a roof fully covered in fire. We extinguished using multiple jets to put it out and finally we needed to use the Aerial Ladder Platform to remove remaining roof titles to get access to the flames.”
“The occupants did the right thing. They got out, called the fire brigade out and stayed out.”
