Local charities are getting Christmas presents as a result of Dorchester Rotary Club's big raffle.
The draw took place on Monday 22nd December at the Kings Arms Dorchester, the winning ticket being drawn by the town Mayor, Peter Mann, in the company of the club members and many of their partners and John Scott, managing director of Futuram for the annual Christmas Buffet.
As the club president said during the draw proceeding 'I am delighted that the draw has gone so well, and that many local charities and organisations have benefitted to the tune of about £7,500'.
The giant sack of counterfoils was ceremoniously shuffled and Peter withdrew the winning ticket, the £500 first prize being won by Mrs Pope from Dorchester.
Second, winning £250 was Mr & Mrs Croft of Dorchester and third with £100 Ms. Read from Dorchester and fourth of £50 Mr P Evans from Swansea.
The club members would like to pay tribute to all the participating organisations for what they do and the devotion of their members and supporters to their cause. The sponsors also are vital to any such organisation of this type, providing valued support for the club and its efforts to help the Dorchester community. This brings to life the Rotary Motto of 'Service above Self'.
