A Different Type Of Shed For Dorchester Men For 2015
8:46am 31st December 2014
Men have been finding solace in their sheds for years - but a different type of men's shed is hopefully on its way to Dorchester in the New Year.
The UK Men's Shed Association is a larger version of your garden shed - providing groups of men a place to go to, to work on practical projects.
Graeme Trinder is putting plans forward to bring one to Dorchester and he explained why these sheds really do help.
He told Wessex FM: "Men tend to go into their shells and as they get older they get more introverted."
"They're reluctant to talk face-to-face but they will discuss problems with other people if they're working alongside each other."
In the UK a shed is opening every week; there are now more than 100; there are two in Poole and one in Wincanton.
The club will be run by the members who decide when they come and what they do.
Graeme is looking for somewhere to set up the club and for any local businesses willing to donate equipment or material.
