Charity Events To Help Servicemen's Families

7:30am 20th January 2015

A trek across the Jurassic Coastline is helping families stay in touch even when a parent is half way across the world fighting for our country.

My Daddy is a Soldier Adventures is coming back to Dorset for their bi annual fundraising challenge to help fund their work that helps children cope with being separated for so long from a parent soldier.

Founder Louise Fetigan said it's not a well-known problem.

She Wessex FM told: "People believe when a solider is away from home they have automatically access to internet and telephones but often they're in really remote places."

"So they get just a half an hour phone card a week so communication is really sporadic."

Families can choose from two Jurassic routes:
- Diplodocus - 14km scenic, cross-country route with some hills. The trek will end at a ropes course where the Leap of Faith challenge will be awaiting participants.
- T-Rex Ultimate Challenge* - Speed pace14km cross-country trek, 45ft Leap of Faith plus a demanding coasteering route along the Jurassic coast.
