Fire Service Offer 'Smoke Bomb' Warning
7:42am 20th January 2015
Our fire crews are warning home owners to let their neighbours know they're fumigating their houses in advance after being called out over false alarms.
A number of residents in Dorset have been using "smoke bombs" to fumigate their properties before going out, which has led to neighbours calling Dorset Fire and Rescue Service.
Station Manager Charlie Pack of Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Householders set off these devices and then leave their properties for a few hours to fumigate it."
"However the neighbours are unaware of the fumigation plan and call the Fire and Rescue Service, thinking the property is on fire."
"If you are carrying out pest control operations in your own home, as a precaution it is advisable to let your neighbours know to avoid false alarms such as this."
Crews have been called out to nine of these types of incidents across the county.
