Staffordshire Bull Terriers Abandoned In Dorset
7:42am 26th January 2015
You might think Staffordshire Bull Terriers have a bad reputation - but a Dorset animal charity is launching a new campaign to change the breed's image.
Margaret Green Animal Rescue is joining forces with Staffie and Stray Rescue to raise awareness about this often misunderstood breed through their "Save a Staffie" campaign.
People often buy the dogs as a status symbol, only to abandon them later.
Helen Chittock, manager at Margaret Green Animal Rescue's Lincoln Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre for dogs, said: "We hope that by raising awareness of the wonderful qualities that these dogs possess, we can help re-educate people to think again about adopting one as a pet."
Almost all the dogs rescued by Staffie and Stray Rescue are either Staffies or Staffie crosses and added to over a fifth of all the dogs rescued by Margaret Green Animal Rescue.
