Weymouth is being promoted as an adventure sports and activity destination.

A team from Weymouth BID are at the Outdoor Adventure and Camping Show.

The 50,000 visitors to the show will see the wide range of activities Weymouth has to offer from sailing to rock climbing, windsurfing and diving.

BID Manager Nigel Reed spoke to Wessex FM from the Show. He said the atmosphere was "buzzing", with lots of interest in Weymouth and Portland as an area to bring more adventure activities.

"A lot of people have been to Weymouth for holidays or Iron Man events, and they remember it. What we're trying to push is that it's got a lot more going for it with Portland. You can sail, you rock climb, you can walk. People like that you can come here and everything's very close proximity.

"We're getting great feedback on our stand. We've had adventure organisers, group travel and festival people coming to talk to us about bringing more stuff down to us - more running activities and climbing competitions."

Outdoor sports and activities is one of the biggest growing sectors in tourism in the UK.
