Local Village Save Community Shop
8:47am 19th June 2012
Residents of a small village near Beaminster have joined forces and managed to come up with a solution to save their local shop.
The popular Broadwindsor stores closed 10 months ago, but locals want it to stay open, and they're going to try running it as a community shop.
The shop will be managed by a paid manager and run by volunteers.
They now need to find £30,000 between now and the end of August. The Save our Broadwindsor Shop Committee are seeking donations and calling on people to buys shares in the industrial and provident society which would be set up to enable the community to run the shop.
The action plan for the project was announced at a packed meeting in the village's Comrade's Hall.
It's hoped the shop could re-open in October.
