Countdown To The Arrival Of The Olympic Torch
8:08am 29th June 2012
In 2 weeks' time the Olympic torch will arrive in West Dorset on its final leg of its mammoth journey across the UK.
The iconic flame will travel through Puddletown, Dorchester and a number of smaller towns and villages on its way to Weymouth on the 12th of July.
It's already travelled nearly 7 thousand miles, and our local torch bearers are ready to keep it going.
Anyone planning to watch the Relay is advised to visit the Olympic Torch Relay pages at www.dorsetforyou.com/sailing2012 where there are route maps, travel and transport advice and information leaflets to download.
Angus Campbell, Leader of Dorset County Council and Chairman of the Dorset 2012 Board, said: " The Torch Relay will be a unique opportunity for people all over Dorset to join together and celebrate this historic event and the countdown to the Olympic Games and sailing events coming to the county this summer."
