Children Learn Olympic Values in Torch Relay from the Nothe
8:10am 2nd July 2012
The Olympic Torch School To School Relay starts in Dorset today!
Pupils from Weymouth and Portland Schools will carry the Torch from the Nothe Fort, where it will be lit in a spectacular ceremony.
They will then carry it, along with their own Book of Friendship, to the beach and towards Weymouth College.
The School to School relay is to prepare for the real Torch when it arrives in Dorset on July the 12th.
Caroline Peer from the Chesil Education Partnership says it will also teach the children more about the Olympic values. "Friendship and teamwork and sharing. Part of the purpose of the school relay is they've had to work together to actually get the Torch from one place to another, right from the very little infants right up to the oldest student."
