Open Invitation to Try Out for Bridport Basketball Team
7:18am 5th July 2012
Evolution Basketball Club in Bridport is hoping to slam dunk their way back to the success they had in the 90's.
The club's being revived and are looking for new members.
They're holding a recruiting event on Monday evening at Bridport Youth Centre at 7pm.
The team were first established in the 90s and went on to have success in both league and cup competitions, but unfortunately had to withdraw from playing competitively in 2010.
After two seasons out of action the team are hoping to re-enter the league in October and are keen to find some new recruits in time for the start of the season.
The club is keen for anyone interested to come and attend the first training session, regardless of age or experience.
Former players are also being encouraged to dust off their boots and to come and help the club get back to winning ways.
A spokesperson for the club said: "We are keen to welcome some new faces at the first training session as well as some familiar ones.
"If you've never played before, just want to get fit or are looking for a new challenge then we would love to see you. There is no pressure on anyone to sign up and play and the first session is free so you have nothing to lose. Equally if you do want to play competitively there is plenty of time to learn the game and stake a claim for a starting position with the new season due to start in October.
"The club has a reputation for having a real mix of ages and abilities with teenagers playing alongside men in their forties and fifties in the past, so you are never too young or too old."
The first training session will be on Monday, July 9th at the Bridport Youth Centre from 7pm to 9pm. Training will then continue every Monday at the same time and place. For more information call Tom on 07738 153511 or Tony on 01308 427091.
