Olympic Torch Arrival Expected To Draw Huge Crowds
10:21am 11th July 2012
We're being reminded to stay safe when enjoying the Olympic Torch celebrations this week.
The torch arrives in Puddletown at 12.30pm on Thursday lunchtime, and then makes its way through Dorchester, Bridport and down to Abbotsbury and Wyke Regis before crossing the water to Weymouth.
Thousands are expected to turn out and lines the streets to catch a glimpse of the torchbearers, and Dorset Police are reminding us to not get caught out by criminals.
Inspector Alan Jenkins says: "The Torch Relay is the start of what will be a fantastic celebration of sport this summer as we look forward to welcoming the Olympic and Paralympic Games to Dorset. If you are going out to line the torch route or attend any of the planned celebrations, have a great time but please take care to keep your home and personal possessions safe and secure.
