Boy Rescued after Getting Stuck in Landslide Mud in West Dorset

Cliffhanger 2

7:52am 16th July 2012

A dramatic rescue has taken place at a beach in West Dorset.

It's after a young boy got stuck in mud at Stonebarrow Beach on Saturday afternoon (14th July 2012).

It's reported the 13 year old tried to walk through a landslide near cliffs at Lyme Regis. Within just a few seconds he became trapped up to his knees.

Coastguard rescue teams and Portland's emergency chopper managed to free the youngster who received medical treatment for minor injuries.

With the recent heavy rain much of the cliff area near Bridport has become unstable and warning signs are in place to alert visitors.

Emergency crews say if you get caught in mud you should stay as still as possible and try to alert the coastguard.
