Dorset Police Confirm One Body Has Been Found After Beaminster Landslide

12:54pm 17th July 2012
(Updated 4:26pm 17th July 2012)

Police have this afternoon confirmed that one body has been recovered from a car that was caught in a landslide at Beaminster Tunnel more than a week ago.

A second body is thought to be inside.

It's believed they are a man in his seventies and a woman in her sixties who went missing from Somerset.

Avon and Somerset Police's search for the missing couple led them to the Beaminster tunnel after reports they were in the area on Saturday July 7th.

Both were feared dead after the vehicle was found under a large pile of earth and mud after a landslide near the entrance to the tunnel.

The tunnel has been closed after a landslip blocked the entrance during the floods.
