Soon, streetlights around Blandford will be turned off overnight.

The County Council are replacing over 3 thousand lights across 4 Dorset towns in an attempt to become more energy efficient.

1,300 lights will still remain lit at night, where there are significant concerns over road safety and crime.

The lights will only be switched back on again if it's still dark in the morning.

Work to convert the streetlights starts on 6th August 2012 and is expected to last around 2 weeks.
