Portland Coastguard Helicopter has rescued 3 fishermen after they spent 12 hours adrift in Lyme Bay.
The emergency crew winched them to safety early yesterday morning (Monday 23rd July 2012),

The 3 men abandoned their scallop dredger, the 'Betty G' shortly before it sank in the middle of the night.

The trio were left floating in the water for hours before they managed to raise the alarm.

It wasn't till lunchtime that their emergency flares attracted the attention of the dive boat 'Blue Turtle', 10 miles off Lyme Regis.

The crew alerted the Coastguard who deployed the emergency chopper and managed to airlift the fishermen back to safety where they were checked over by paramedics.
