Rescue teams have found a body after a woman was buried by a landslide at Burton Bradstock.
The 22 year old was sitting with her family yesterday lunchtime (Tuesday 24th July 2012), when 400 tons of rock and debris came crashing down from cliffs above down onto the beach around 400 metres from the Freshwater Bay Holiday Park.
Dorset's Emergency rescue teams tried to remove rubble and debris and worked late into the evening using specialist equipment to try and find the woman.
They recovered her body at around 9.40pm last night.
A spokesman for Dorset Police has called the incident a “tragic accident”
Next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
Dorset’s emergency services and local authorities are now warning residents and visitors to stay away from cliff edges, saying they could be unstable. Dorset County Council had issued an earlier warning to walkers last week after recent flash flooding damaged cliffs.
Another man was also hurt by falling debris but received only minor injuries.
