80 Year Old Ronnie To Jump Out Of A Plane
9:08am 9th August 2012
An 80 year old Beaminster man is throwing himself out of a plane today for charity.
Ronnie Baker, who lived in Eype for 25 years and is now a resident of Glebe Court (Magna's sheltered scheme in Beaminster), is raising money for Help For Heroes just a couple of weeks after he celebrates turning 80 years young!
A very modest Ronnie, who initially wanted to keep this event low key, has agreed to 'go public' to try and raise as much as possible for this worthwhile charity.
Ronnie says: "I'm not the type to make a big thing of this but, having served in the parachute regiment during my national service, it seemed a good opportunity to help British servicemen and women injured in current conflicts."
The jump at Dunkeswell in East Devon, is being hosted by The Red Devils, the Parachute Regiment Freefall Team (official parachute display team of both the Parachute Regiment (The Paras) and the British Army). It takes place on the 2nd August, British summer weather allowing!
