Campaign To Charge For Carrier Bags Backed In Dorset

Dorset campaigners are backing calls for there to be a charge on all single-use carrier bags in England.
Director of the Dorset Branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, Trevor Bevins says the number of bags we're using and throwing away is continuing to rise.
Eight billion 'thin-guage' carrier bags were issued in 2011- that's a 5.4 per cent increase on the 7.6 billion that were given out in 2010.
It's a huge concern along Dorset's Coastline with the Marine Conservation Society joining the call for a levy to be introduced.
They want this Olympic year to be a focus for protecting the coast.
