Dorset engineering is helping the Mars Rover explore the red planet.

The drills being used by the probe have been manufactured in Winfrith Newburgh.

Head of the Hardmet Group, David Trickett says he took a mystery call from an interested client.

When he asked what type of surface they'd be drilling into, the caller said he had no idea.

The space craft has successfully landed and now the Dorset technology's drilling the surface of Mars.
