Call For Young Musicians To Play The Albert Hall
8:48am 30th August 2012
Budding young Dorset musicians are being invited to the Royal Albert Hall.
If you are a string, brass or woodwind musician you can audition for the Dorset Music Service's performance at the famed London venue next spring.
Percussionists and vocalists are also being sought after.
Auditions start next month.
The concert, which takes place in May 2013, is titled 'Movie Music'. It will follow a musical journey through the cinematic ages.
Nichola Pendlebury, head of Dorset Music Service, said: "Playing at The Royal Albert Hall and representing the musical talent of Dorset to family, friends and VIPs is an experience that will stay with you forever."
You can audition if you are a Grade 1 string musician or a Grade 3 brass and woodwind musician, as well as percussionists of all standards and vocalists with recommendations from schools.
Vocal teachers are also wanted.
Musicians of Grade 6 or higher can audition to become members of the Dorset Youth Orchestra and experience a semi-professional playing experience conducted by Mark Forkgen, perform alongside the BSO contemporary arm 'Koroko' and perform at the Royal Albert Hall.
If you are under 18, still in full time education and can commit to 11 rehearsals this academic year, you can find out how to audition by visiting http://www.dorsetmusicservice.org.uk.
