Three Dorset charities have been given a boost thanks to a special fund from the Mayor.

£2,400 has been shared between the County Hospitals Mammography Appeal, Weymouth Refuge and Portland Coast Watch.

The monies were raised through a number of events held over the course of the year.

Outgoing Mayor for Weymouth Graham Winter said he was thrilled with all those who got involved in the events and raised the money.

He said: "I am delighted that during my term in office we raised lots of money for three very important causes.

"It is wonderful to see such a great community spirit shine through and I would like to thank all those people involved in generating the excellent total."

Current Weymouth Mayor Margaret Leicester is raising money for the Osprey Leisure Centre and Julia's House.
