A library that was under threat of closure in Bridport has been saved!

The Burton Bradtsock Library was one of 9 earmarked for closure by the County Council in an attempt to save 8 hundred thousand pounds.

Now, Council Leaders have agreed to hand over control to the Parish Council and the Friends of Burton Bradstock Library who'll run it voluntarily.

Volunteers already run the service for 6 hours a week.

Burton Bradstock is one of eight libraries being transferred back into community hands with the County saving £ 800,000 a year.

They would still  provide £5,500 a year, which would go towards books, IT and some staff costs.
