Lyme Bay Diver Taken to Hospital

7:38am 15th October 2012

A diver has been winched to hospital by Portland’s Coastguard after getting into trouble off the coast.

Dive Vessel Ruby Jay raised the alarm in Lyme Bay after the man reached the surface BUT missed 30 minutes worth of de-compressions stops on his ascent.

Failing to do so makes nitrogen gases expand in the blood and can cause illness.

The diver was flown to a Hospital re-compressions chamber for treatment.
