More Training for Private Home Care Staff in South Dorset
7:20am 17th October 2012
A new training project is hoping to improve the standard of home care offered in Dorset.
Unison together with the county council will be providing training to care staff working in the private sector.
£23m worth of long term care services has been awarded to 9 companies by the county council.
The project will be official launched tonight.
Amanda Brown, UNISON Learning With Care Project Leader, said:
"Staff and employers are really excited by the project, as am I. My job will be to talk to care staff and their employers about ways in which we can update the skills of the workforce. I've already had staff from some care providers volunteer to act as training champions. The local Quality Care Commissioner has also welcomed the initiative as they recognised that this would maintain and improve home care standards across Dorset."
