Service in Memory of Historic Battle Fought by Dorset Soldiers

Dorchester Town Centre

9:17am 19th October 2012

Dorset soldiers who fought in a little know wars over a hundred years ago are to be honoured for their bravery.

23 soldiers from the Dorsetshire Regiment were killed on the North West Frontier of India in 1897/88.

They were fighting alongside their Indian counterparts to restore order after a series of attacks on military forts there.

The Royal British Legion has organised a special service to be held in the Borough Gardens next Wednesday (24th October 2012) in their memory.

The 20 minute service will begin at 11am at the obelisk. If the weather is poor it'll be held in the Military Keep Museum on Bridport road.

For more information contact the Keep on 01305 264066.
