George Inn Closes After Drugs Raid in Weymouth

7 people have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and a pub has been forced to close in Weymouth!
Dorset Police searched the George Inn at Custom House Quay late on Thursday night (25th October 2012).
Officers surprised staff and punters when they entered the premises at with a drugs warrant at 10 o'clock in the evening.
It follows a 2 month undercover operation to gather evidence.
Substances believed to be class-a drugs were recovered alongside a large quantity of cash.
Seven people - three men aged, 33, 37 and 63, three women, aged 33, 35 and 57, and a 17-year-old boy, all from the Weymouth area - were arrested on suspicion of drug offences and are helping officers with their enquiries.
The George Inn's license has been suspended and they've been shutdown until further notice.
"Detective Inspector Marcus Hester of the Dorset Police Major Crime Team said: 'This sends a clear message to landlords that the police will not tolerate drug dealing within licensed premises or indeed within the Dorset area and will continue to proactively target anyone involved in drug supply.'"
