Scammers Target Beaminster In Debit Card Con

Scammers have come up with an inventive way of ripping someone off in Beaminster.
The target got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Barclays Bank asking if they'd received their new debit card.
When they said they hadn't, someone who claimed to be a courier turned up at their door - gave them a new card and took away their old one away.
Later that day the victim found money had been taken out of their account.
Dorset Police say banks only supply new cards on request or when the old card has expired.
Under normal circumstances, banks never request expired cards to be surrendered and should be destroyed by the card owner.
