Work to Improve Cycle Links in Weymouth Underway

Bike Ride Shadow on road

8:05am 12th November 2012

Work starts today on a cycleway which will connect a school and sports centre to residential areas of Weymouth.

Dorset Highways will carry out construction between Newstead Road and the Chickerell Link Road with the main junction modifications being carried out in early 2013.

Project manager Emma Baker says 'There will be minimal disruption to traffic this side of Christmas, widening the pavement into the verge for the cycleway.

The Completed Marsh Route will provide residents with more travel options:,they will be able to get on their bikes and cycle to Budmouth College, local leisure facilities and into Weymouth Town Centre'. Most of the off-road cycleway will be finished by Christmas. Work will start on Monday 7th January 2013 to install the new crossing  facilities and join them into the cycleway.
