Daring Thief Steals Poppy Donations near Weymouth

police tape

11:12am 13th November 2012

Money donated in memory of our fallen heroes has been stolen from a mini-supermarket near Weymouth.

Staffs at Costcutters in Wyke Regis were left stunned when an audacious thief reached across the counter and took the Poppy appeal donations box, and hid it in his jacket.

All this was done while the shopkeepers back was turned.

The incident happened last Friday (9th November) sometime between 6:30pm and 6:45pm and the Royal British Legion charity box is still missing.

Costcutters is appealing for help and any witnesses who may know who took it to get in touch with them.

Dorset Police say they're aware of the theft and are investigating.

The thief is described as white, with glasses and was wearing a blue jacket at the time.
