Dorset Beaches Fail Water Tests
9:08am 14th November 2012
2 South Dorset beachs have failed to pass European water tests.
Following a summer of unprecedented rainfall in the South West 16 bathing waters have returned poor water quality results and Lyme Regis Church Cliff Beach and Kimmeridge Bay are both on that list.
The Environment Agency is blaming the results on pollution being washed into our waters from overflowing drains and rain water running off farmland.
The Organisation is calling for better sewage infrastructure in South Dorset to deal with the issue in the future.
It's not all bad news though, 193 beaches in our region were awarded a pass for good water quality.
