It's all about green energy for School children in South Dorset for the next 2 weeks.

Dozens of our local schools have signed up to a campaign "EDF Energy The Pod's Switch Off Fortnight"

Pupils are gonna be measuring how much electricity is used in their classrooms whilst making sure appliances that aren't being used are turned off.

It's all about raising awaereness and making youngsters more eco-aware.

Cllr Robert Gould, cabinet member for environment at Dorset County Council, said:

"Schools account for a major proportion of energy usage in Dorset, so we're delighted that so many have signed up to this campaign. It is a fun way to educate children about how to save energy, help the planet and save money."

Dorset County Council is also running a competition to see which school can save the most energy. Each school has been given a special pack which includes a meter reading form. Prizes will include games, stickers and a free energy saving workshop.
