Flood Warning for South Dorset but Adverse Conditions Receding

Waterlogged pitch

(Updated 12:07pm 26th November 2012)

There's still a number of flood warnings out for Dorset this morning with more light rain forecast for the afternoon.

Surface water across some roads is making conditions dangerous for motorists; the A352 and Sherborne Road are both affected.

There are 11 flood warnings in place around the County.

The weather front is expected to move north today but forecasters are warning of some more light showers this afternoon.

Last night, the Environment Agency warned groundwater levels in Dorset were rising sharply following the heavy rainfall; "Groundwater continues to rise even when rain stops falling, as water percolating through the ground meets the water table".
