Weymouth Charity Santa Pudding Run
8:03am 16th December 2012
(Updated 2:13pm 30th December 2012)
Picture the scene - its Weymouth Beach and hundreds of Santas are chasing a giant Christmas Pudding.
No you're not dreaming - that's exactly what's going to happen today.
The 5K Santa Dash supported by Wessex FM is in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
People across Dorset are all welcome to join in, dressing up as Santas, elves, fairies or anything festive and fun. This year's theme will be 'sporting fun' celebrating Weymouth's wonderful Olympic summer.
Neil Jarrett, Fundraising and Volunteer Manager for the British Heart Foundation, said: "It is going to be a lot of fun, and the funds raised will help us to continue the life-changing work that we carry out in the local area and across the UK".
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council Head of Tourism and Events Matt Ryan said: "Local events generate great interest, fun and once again bring the town alive. Come on down to the seafront on 16 December and help make one of Weymouth's big Christmas events go off with a big festive cheer."
The pudding chase event has been successfully run by Mark Steen of Bustinskin. For the second year running he is joining forces with the British Heart Foundation with the aim of developing the event and raising awareness and thousands of pounds for a great cause.
The start of this year's Chase the Pudding will be hosted by Wessex FM Breakfast presenter James O'Neil followed by a `Festive Santa Warm Up' from top local fitness trainer Jodie Bateman.
This year's Chase the Pudding will also be supported by Seafront Café `THE BOAT' - a perfect spot to view and cheer the army of Santas as they sprint up the beach.
