Dorset Fire and Rescue Service are celebrating a reduction in the total number of fires starting in the county.
Between April and September of this year the service attended 1020 fires compared to the 1200 fires the attended in the same period last year.
It wasn't just the number of fires which dropped this year, the fire service also managed to reduce the number of false alarms they attended. Last year they sent fire engines to 54% of false alarms but have managed to reduce this figure by 13% this year.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Ben Ansell said that despite the improvement, there is still much work to be done.
He said: "We are not complacent and we realise there is still work to be done. We want Dorset and its residents to be as safe as they possibly can be and we will continue working in partnership to achieve that."
