A 49 year old man's been injured after being robbed of his wallet in Weymouth.

The incident happened on the cycle path next to the Weymouth Way opposite Pottery Lane at around 10pm last Friday night (14th December).

The offender stopped the man - who was walking his dog - and demanded money from him.

He sustained injuries to his arms that required hospital treatment.

Dorset Police is appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.

Detective Constable Gavin Roy, of Weymouth CID, said: "I would like to reassure people that this would appear to be a rare and isolated incident but I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything or who may be able to assist us with our enquiries.

"Any help or information is appreciated."

The offender is described as a white man, aged between 20 and 25, of slim to stocky build, and around five feet ten inches tall.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark coloured jacket.
