Car Parking Spaces Ready to Use Again in County Town
4:40pm 18th December 2012
We've got some car parking spaces back in Dorchester!
50 short stay spaces including three disabled bays are now back in use behind South Walks House - West Dorset District Council's new offices.
It's free to park there between 6pm and 8am and free all day on Sundays.
West Dorset District Council Leader Robert Gould said:
"The new offices are smaller, greener and more efficient than our current headquarters in High West Street.
"Much lower running and energy costs mean they will save West Dorset taxpayers more than £200,000 a year, even after the £9.7 million cost of construction is taken into account.
"Now that construction of the building is complete I am delighted that we can return these parking spaces back to public use the week before Christmas."
A small number of the parking spaces behind South Walks House may need to be coned off at times to accommodate removal lorries.
