South Dorset Fishermen Await Decision on Fishing Quotas
4:38pm 19th December 2012
Weymouth and Portland's fisherman are eagerly awaiting a decision that could put jobs on the water at risk.
Talks on EU fishing regulations are underway in Brussels and Politicians are expected to cut quotas, reducing the amount of fish, trawlers are allowed to catch in 2013.
David Pittman, Chairman of the Weymouth and Portland Fisherman and Boatman's Association, told Wessex FM new regulations could lead to fewer boats on the water and people potentially losing work.
A decision on fishing quotas is expected to be announced tomorrow morning (Thursday 20th December).
Weymouth and Portland fleets will then have to wait to see exactly what quotas are imposed on them.
