Dorset County Council's Library Service has won a top award for their efforts, encouraging people to read.

Staff encouraged visitors to pick 6 books and record their reading in a diary to get the certificate.

Called the Six Book Challenge, it was promoted through libraries, adult education, prisons and workplaces.

The Dorset library authority picked up their bronze award at a lavish ceremony in London.

Last year (2012) 23,500 people across the UK registered to take part, an increase of 30% on the previous year. 90% of survey respondents said they were more confident about reading after taking part in the Six Book Challenge.
