Taxis Targetted By Burglars
9:54am 5th January 2013
There's a warning out to Taxi drivers and car owners in Blandford after a pair of break-ins the past week.
Both vehicles targeted by thieves were licensed taxis and a quantity of cash was stolen on both occasions.
The first incident occurred between 5.45pm and 6.55pm on Saturday 29 December 2012, in Kingston Close. The second occurred at approximately 8pm on Thursday 3 January 2013, along Eastleaze Road.
Blandford Neighbourhood Inspector Shawn Whitley said: "With two incidents in quick succession I want to take the opportunity to remind motorists to be vigilant and take precautions to keep their vehicles and possessions safe.
"Don't give thieves the opportunity to steal anything by always removing valuables from your vehicle and keep doors and windows locked.
"If possible, drivers should park their cars in well lit areas and always use their vehicle alarm if they have one.
"I'd urge anyone with any information about either of these incidents to contact us. Equally, if you see anything suspicious, or anyone acting suspiciously, please report it to police."
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
