Have Your Say On Budget Plans For Weymouth And Portland
9:23am 7th January 2013
Now's the time to have your say on how the Weymouth and Portland budget is spent.
The proposals up for consultation outline how the Council plan to handle the reduced amount of money they'll receive next year.
These proposals were approved for public consultation in December and cover a range of council services.
Cllr Peter Chapman, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council Briefholder for Finance and Assets told Wessex FM:
"Anyone who wants to give their views about the proposals can fill a questionnaire online or get a copy from the council's North Quay offices.
"We have some very hard decisions to make and the proposals are a way of dealing with less money in the short term.
"It is also about planning ahead to make sure the council is stable and solvent in years to come and doesn't have to go through this kind of situation year after year."
After hearing from the public, councillors will then debate the 2013/14 budget at Management Committee on the 5th of February, and set the final budget plans at Full Council on the 21st.
Questionnaires for local people and businesses are available until the 20th of January.
You can get your questionnaire from the Borough Council's North Quay offices, or alternatively find them online HERE.
