Deep Clean to Close Recycling Centres
12:41pm 7th January 2013
If you've got any waste to "Go" you have just less than 2 weeks to dump it, because Weymouth and Portland's 2 household recycling centres are closing for cleaning.
The Preston Beach Road site will close on the Tuesday 15th for 3 days.
The Portland Centre on Easton Road is going to be closed from Tuesday 29th for 3 days as well.
Both will reopen on a Friday.
The Council's annual deep clean also gives them a chance to carry out any other outstanding maintenance issues.
Director of the Dorset Waste Partnership Steve Burdis said:
"The deep clean is part of a planned maintenance programme for all our HRCs built into our contract with operators W&S Recycling. As a result, there is no extra cost for the deep clean treatments.
"We have chosen a relatively quiet time of year and the least busy part of the week to carry out this work, minimising disruption for local people as much as possible. For practical and safety reasons we need to close the site to visitors during this period."
During this time local residents can use any of the Dorset Waste Partnership's 10 other HRCs or hang on to their waste until their local centre re-opens.
