Renewed Flood Threat In Dorset

11:17am 12th January 2013
(Updated 5:53pm 12th January 2013)

The Environment Agency's reminding us the Flood Warning for the South Winterborne Valley is still in force.

Though ground water levels are slowly and regularly decling they say heavy rain now being experienced in Dorset  could lead to problems for properties and roads in the area.

They say the groundwater level at the Kingston Russell borehole is beginning to fall steadily, but remains above the flood warning level.

At 14:30 pm, on 11/01/2013, the level in the borehole was 119.58 metres above sea level. We expect the decline to continue but heavy rain is forecast overnight and Saturday morning and there may be some response to this rain. The risk of property flooding within the South Winterbourne Valley still remains. We will continue to monitor the situation and will next update this message on 12/01/2013.
