Dorset Fire And Rescue Looking For Young Recruits
1:58pm 14th January 2013
A scheme has been launched in South Dorset to get more young adults into work.
Dorset Fire and Rescue's Princes Trust programme runs for 12 weeks and takes place at the Community Fire Station at the end of the month.
It's free to join and applications are now available.
Participants can spend a week away at a residential activity centre, undertake a project based in their local community, complete a work placement and participate in a team challenge, involving caring for others. Those who take part are working towards a nationally recognised award.
This will be the 100th Princes Trust Programme at Weymouth Community Fire station. Dave Prior, who led the 1st DFRS Princes Trust programme, will also lead the 100th team. He told Wessex FM that, "the course is aimed at helping to change the lives of these young people. It gives them something to aim for and a better chance within the workforce. We run courses throughout the year across Dorset."
The course will start at Weymouth Community Fire Station from the 28th of January.
