Village Targeted In No Excuse Campaign

Speeding motorists in a small Dorset village have been warned by Police to kill their speed or face prosecution.
For the first time Road Safety Teams have brought their "No Excuse Campaign" to Winterbourne Whitechurch, near Blandford.

A number of enforcement officers were out yesterday (Wednesday 23rd January) clamping down on dangerous drivers using mobile speed cameras.
Parish Councillors say the A354 through the village is a particular hotspot for motorists breaking the law.
Councillor Aideen Turley told Wessex FM they just want to make the area safe again.
Dorset Police Chief Superintendent Colin Searle says it's vital they work with their partners in the community, and use education as a method of prevention;
"Ourselves and other emergency services often have to deal with the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions. Some ended up being fatalities."
"These are people we're talking about, people with families, it's terrible to have to deal with those situations and we'd rather deal with people in the community to ensure these tragic consequences don't happen."
