A woman's been forced to stay indoors and rely on her family for help, after vandals stole and trashed her scooter in Littlemoor.

Janet Cole had her mobility scooter taken from her block of flats sometime last Sunday (20th January). She usually keeps it in the hallway close to her home but it was moved to make way for decorating.

Dorset Police found it in a field nearby abandoned and ruined with the battery pack damaged.

The 56 year old says she's lost her independence and is relying on her son to help with daily tasks.

Janet told Wessex FM she wasn't the only one targeted; "The lady upstairs whose scooter was found behind my neighbours block, the electrics are contained and you could tell someone had tried to break into it because it had scratches on it. I'm devastated; it's my lifeline because I can't walk very far".

Janet says she's feeling really down at the moment and wants anyone who may know who's responsible to get in touch with Dorset Police who're investigating.
