Tributes have been paid to a teenager who died following a horse riding accident at Kingston Maurward near Dorchester.

Showjumper Ella Pallister suffered fatal injuries while taking part in a competition at the college on Sunday (27th January).

The 17 year old from Portesham was flown to Southampton Hospital for emergency treatment, where she later died from her injuries.

Staff and students at the Thomas Hardye School - where she was studying A Levels - hosted a special assembly and lit candles in her memory.

Head of year 13 Katie Taylor has fond memories of Ella and paid this tribute.

In a statement published on their website the British Showjumping Association voiced deep regret over Ella's death;

"It is with the deepest regret that British Showjumping confirm a rider aged 17 has died today, Wednesday 30th January, as a result of an injury sustained whilst competing at a British Showjumping event at Kingston Maurward Show in Dorset on Sunday 27th January 2013.

Both British Showjumping and Kingston Maurward extend their condolences to the family during this difficult time."
